Malden and Hyannis, Mass.-based Barter organization achieves 2,500 member mark

DATELINE: MALDEN AND HYANNIS, MASS…

Perhaps “cash is king”, but barter is an attractive second best.  Given the cash flow challenges associated with the current economic rut, New England Trade, based in Malden and Hyannis, Mass. and the region’s oldest, largest barter/trade organization, recently achieved the 2,500 member mark.

“Although our barter/trade organization has received a huge bump from the so-called recession, we empathize with the challenges of the embattled business owner.  With the critical mass of 2,500 members we have a very wide range of goods and services to offer,” noted Ken Meharg, CEO of New England Trade.

Gary Oshry, President of New England Traded added, “We understand regional businesses are looking to us to salvage unsold products and extra service capacity and exchange them within our network for something that can help them build their business.  Our trade organization allows members to expand the concept of barter – they don’t have to exchange services directly with one member, but can escrow their earned barter dollars and use it towards anything within the entire network.”

Larry Conn, Hyannis resident and Cape Cod Trade managing partner noted, “Organized barter is a legitimate way to bring new avenues of business to your door and expand your local networking value. At the same time the barter income can help defray your incidental expenses, provide a source of employee bonuses and incentives, augment your health coverage, and perhaps afford you some small luxuries.”
